01Health raises £11.2M to revolutionize specialist healthcare access

Healthcare startup 01Health has secured £11.2 million in a Series A funding round. The company, founded by former A&E doctor Sonia Szamocki, aims to improve access to specialist care through its digital platform. Investors see strong potential in its model to connect experts with local clinics. Dr Szamocki launched 01Health in 2022 to tackle the gap between specialist availability and patient need. She argues that access, not cost, remains the biggest barrier in healthcare. The platform helps specialists support more general practitioners, creating a scalable way to reach underserved areas.

The funding round was led by Gresham House Ventures, with additional support from existing backers. Zixin Pan of Gresham House noted the platform’s ability to expand remote specialist care. Greta Anderson of Balderton Capital also praised the team’s progress in building and scaling the service.

01Health has already tested its approach with success. Its specialist dental platforms, 32Co and Aerox Health, have delivered expert treatments in areas with limited access. The new investment will fund the UK launch of its main platform and trials in the US.

The platform will be licensed to practices, practice groups, and dental service organisations. This allows them to offer specialist treatments without the need for patients to travel to major cities. The £11.2 million funding will accelerate the rollout of 01Health’s platform in the UK and US. It will help reduce long waiting lists and bring specialist expertise to local clinics. The company’s model aims to make advanced healthcare more widely available.
