€510,000 Boost for Refugee Mental Health in Saxony-Anhalt's PSZ Centers

State Secretary Susi Möbeck recently visited the Psychosocial Center for Migrants in Saxony-Anhalt (PSZ). During her trip, she handed over two funding notices worth a combined €510,000. The PSZ has provided mental health support to refugees for the past two decades. The PSZ was established 20 years ago to help refugees recovering from persecution, war, and torture. It now runs three centres in Halle, Magdeburg, and Stendal, offering psychotherapeutic care to those with limited access to standard medical services.

The organisation’s main funding comes from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. This €585,000 grant is part of the European Union’s Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund. Möbeck, who also serves as Integration Commissioner, commended the PSZ team for their dedication to improving refugees’ psychosocial health and aiding their integration.

The state government has long relied on the PSZ as a key partner in addressing the mental health needs of displaced individuals. The new funds will support the PSZ’s ongoing work across its three locations. The centre continues to play a crucial role in helping refugees rebuild their lives. Its services remain essential for those with trauma who struggle to access traditional healthcare.
