Gifhorn's Addiction Awareness Day offers support and sobering experiences
The Addiction Services Task Force will hold an information day on July 1, 2023, as part of Alcohol Awareness Week. The event aims to encourage open discussions about addiction and support services. It will take place at the Addiction and Drug Counseling Center in Gifhorn’s Speicherhof. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Steinweg 10. An information booth outside the centre will offer details on local addiction support services. Inside, short films exploring various addiction disorders will be shown.
Visitors can try on drunk goggles to experience how alcohol impairs perception. Alcohol-free cocktails will be served to create a welcoming atmosphere for conversation. The day is open to anyone affected by addiction, their families, partner organisations, and the public.
The Task Force hopes the event will promote honest exchanges about addiction and available help. The information day provides a chance to learn about addiction support in the district. Activities like drunk goggles and film screenings aim to raise awareness. Free cocktails and open discussions will help foster engagement among attendees.
