New Obesity Drug LET003 Shows 76% Fat Loss in Preclinical Trials

Harbour BioMed has released preclinical data for LET003, a new monoclonal antibody targeting ACVR2A/2B for obesity treatment. The results show promising effects on fat reduction and lean mass preservation when combined with semaglutide. In tests using wild-type mice, LET003 and semaglutide together reduced fat mass by 76.0% compared to a placebo. The combination also lowered the fat-to-body weight ratio by 17.5% in a high-fat diet-induced obesity model.

Lean mass improved significantly with the dual treatment. In the same model, it increased lean mass by 5.7% over semaglutide alone. The lean mass-to-body weight ratio rose by 15.2% compared to the control group.

LET003 demonstrated efficiency at lower doses, matching the lean mass effects of bimagrumab at higher doses. It also outperformed competitor molecules, boosting lean mass by 18.3% compared to placebo. Additionally, LET003 showed slower clearance in mouse and monkey models, indicating better pharmacokinetic properties. The preclinical findings suggest LET003, when paired with semaglutide, enhances fat loss and muscle retention. Its superior pharmacokinetic profile and dose efficiency mark it as a strong candidate for obesity therapy. Further studies will determine its potential in clinical settings.
