Kindergarteners in Germany master first aid in playful crash course

Directors from DRK Rhönblick kindergartens in Helmershausen, Wohlmuthhausen, and Stedtlingen organised a first aid course for children. The event took place at Helmershausen kindergarten and was led by instructor Mr. Röder. The session aimed to teach young participants how to respond in emergencies. The day began with a shared breakfast for the children. Afterward, Mr. Röder guided them through accident scenarios, emergency call procedures, and practical first aid techniques using real-life examples. The group also practised applying bandages to each other, their teachers, and even a large teddy bear.

The course lasted an hour and a half. It required at least eight children to participate, a condition that was met. By the end, the children showed greater confidence in helping others and understanding the importance of quick action.

At the close of the session, each child received a certificate of participation and a small gift. They eagerly shared their new knowledge with their parents afterward. The training may have encouraged parents to update their own first aid skills. The directors and Silvana Klett discussed the success of the course and its potential for future sessions. The children left with both practical abilities and a sense of achievement.
