Decades of research have shown that high red meat consumption is not ideal for health or longevity. Excessive meat intake increases oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, both of which are linked to age-related diseases. In contrast, mixing meat with other protein sources, such as beans, emerged as a healthier option.

The study found that reducing meat and saturated fat intake altered biological signals in cells. These signals, when in excess, can contribute to disease as people age.
