Berlin and Brandenburg brace for extreme 35°C heatwave this weekend

The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has warned of extreme heat in Berlin and much of Brandenburg this Saturday. Temperatures are expected to reach between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius, according to the German Weather Service. The BBK issued the alert as forecasts predict a significant rise in temperatures. Urban areas, particularly densely built parts of Berlin, may struggle with higher night-time temperatures, offering little relief from the heat.

Extreme heat can cause serious health issues. Symptoms such as dizziness, confusion, and exhaustion may appear, with heatstroke being a severe risk. The most vulnerable groups include people over 65, those with preexisting medical conditions, infants, and young children. Residents in affected regions are advised to take precautions.
