Magadan's New Maternity Hospital Secures Federal Funding for Advanced Care

A new regional maternity hospital in Magadan has been included in Russia’s updated list of 25 large-scale infrastructure projects. The decision secures funding for its completion under government and National Welfare Fund programmes. Governor Sergei Nosov played a key role in adding the facility to the list. The hospital will be a 20,000-square-metre complex with an 80-bed inpatient unit, a modern women’s clinic, and a day hospital. It will feature advanced Russian-made medical equipment, including cutting-edge neonatal care systems. The design ensures capacity for patients from neighbouring regions like Chukotka and Kamchatka without reducing care for local expectant mothers.

The project is part of the People’s Program of the United Russia party, which prioritises the construction and modernisation of perinatal centres. Its inclusion in the federal list guarantees uninterrupted funding for the final phase. The list also covers other socially vital projects, such as the Kamchatka Regional Hospital, children’s hospitals, and major road reconstructions.

Stringent oversight by state and regulatory bodies will eliminate corruption risks. This ensures budget funds are used precisely for their intended purpose. Once open, the maternity hospital will deliver the highest standard of care. It is expected to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Magadan, Chukotka, and Kamchatka. The facility strengthens healthcare access across the region.
