Astana's Active Longevity Center transforms senior care across six districts

The Active Longevity Center in Astana has expanded its services across all six districts since its launch. Established in 2021, the initiative began with public activists and veterans before gaining support from local deputies. Today, it serves thousands of older adults daily with a wide range of programs. The center opened in 2021 after a push from community members and veterans. Later, Maslikhat deputies, including Altynshash Tabuldina, backed the project. Tabuldina recently met with pensioners in Saryarka to discuss the center’s role and broader social support for seniors.

Its branches now cover all six districts, with a total area exceeding 6,000 square metres. This makes access easier for residents in Yesil, where over 5,000 people use the services, and in Saryarka, with around 4,000 users. From 2022 to 2026, nearly 20,000 residents have visited the center, with over 3,000 attending daily.

Popular activities include rehabilitative gymnastics, Nordic walking, yoga, dance, and wellness exercises. The center also offers IT literacy training, covering smartphone and social media use. Interest-based clubs like 'Silver Volunteers,' intellectual games, choral singing, table tennis, and gadget classes attract many participants. The center’s programs aim to improve physical health, reduce anxiety, and combat loneliness among seniors. They also ease pressure on healthcare services, help prevent age-related illnesses, and support independence. Its widespread reach and diverse offerings have made it a key resource for older adults in Astana.
