Krasnoyarsk Krai has released new data on family structures and birth rates in the region. The figures show a notable rise in families with multiple children over the past decade. They also highlight trends in household compositions and fertility rates. Between 2011 and 2021, the region recorded 399,500 births, with the peak occurring between 2012 and 2015. By 2020, around 1.1 million people lived in households with children, spread across nearly 323,000 such families. Currently, 57% of families in the region have one child, 33% have two, and 10% have three or more.
The share of families with two or three children has grown significantly since 2010. Young parents under 35 now account for 32% of families with two children and 9% of those with three or more. Krasnoyarsk Krai also has 51,037 large families, with 16,000 added after recent legal changes expanded the category.
In seven out of ten families, parents are married. Overall, 45% of the region’s 715,000 families have children. The fertility rate stands at 1.44 children per woman of childbearing age, slightly above Russia’s national average. The data reveals a steady increase in larger families and a stable fertility rate. More young parents are raising multiple children, and legal adjustments have expanded the number of large families. These trends suggest gradual demographic shifts in the region.
