Russia Proposes New Three-Tier Honor System for Blood Donors

Ahead of World Blood Donor Day on 14 June, Sergei Mironov has put forward new proposals to recognise blood donors in Russia. The leader of the A Just Russia – For Truth party wants to introduce a three-tiered system for the 'Honored Blood Donor of Russia' title. He believes current support for donors is inadequate and needs reform. Mironov proposed a new structure for the title. The third degree would require 40 donations, the second 80, and the first 120. Each tier would come with an expanded package of benefits for recipients.

He also highlighted regional disparities in donor support. Most areas provide less assistance than Moscow. The existing annual payment of 19,497 rubles for title holders is, in his view, too low.

In his statement, Mironov stressed the importance of regular blood donation. He argued that increasing compensation and recognition could help strengthen the healthcare system. The proposed changes aim to better reward frequent donors. If adopted, the new tiers would offer greater incentives for those who contribute blood regularly. The reforms could also address inconsistencies in support across different regions.
