Magadan schools to get new outdoor fitness zones by September
New outdoor fitness zones will open this year at two schools in Magadan. The facilities aim to encourage students to exercise regularly and meet national fitness standards. Governor Sergei Nosov ordered their construction on vacant school grounds. The zones will be built at Eco-Biological Lyceum and School No. 28. Work is set to finish by the end of September under the state programme Development of Physical Culture and Sports. The project also supports the national Long and Active Life initiative, launched by the president.
Each gym will include equipment for upper-body training, abdominal and back exercises, parallel bars, and a Swedish wall. Additional stations will feature an elliptical trainer, a stationary bike, pull-up bars, and a bench press. Shock-absorbing flooring will be installed to improve comfort and safety during workouts. The fitness zones will help students prepare for GTO standards and promote healthier lifestyles. Their completion will mark another step in expanding sports infrastructure across the region. The facilities align with broader national efforts to boost physical activity.
