Russian Tourist's Meltdown in Phuket Sparks Repatriation Efforts

A 35-year-old Russian woman from Novorossiysk has drawn attention in Phuket after running out of money and being asked to leave her hotel. Anna Ulyanenko’s behaviour then escalated, leading to concerns from local business owners. Ulyanenko checked out of her hotel after her funds ran out. She soon began visiting a nearby restaurant, where her actions caused alarm. Staff reported she threw bottles at passing cars and harassed guests. The owner also noted her aggressive behaviour and refusal to stop despite repeated requests.

Suspicion arose that she might be struggling with mental health issues or under the influence of banned substances. The restaurant owner sought help from the Russian expat community in Thailand to find her relatives. Volunteers eventually tracked down and contacted her grandmother in Novorossiysk.

Efforts are now focused on arranging her return home. The incident has prompted action to repatriate Ulyanenko to Novorossiysk. Local volunteers and the expat community have played a key role in connecting her with family. Authorities and supporters aim to resolve the situation safely.
