Dhar's massive rally kicks off ahead of Sunday's polio vaccination drive

District authorities in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, organised a large awareness rally on Saturday ahead of a special vaccination day. The event was part of the National Pulse Polio Campaign, aiming to boost participation for Sunday’s drive. Various groups joined the march to spread the message across the city. The rally began at Lal Bagh, flagged off by MLA Neena Vikram Verma. Participants, including ASHA workers, USHA workers, Anganwadi staff, ANMs, nursing students, and schoolchildren, walked through key areas such as Mohan Talkies, Hatwara Bazaar, Anand Chowpatty, and Jawahar Marg. They chanted slogans to raise awareness about polio vaccination.

District Immunisation Officer Dr. Narendra Pawaiya confirmed that microplanning, cold chain management, and monitoring systems were fully prepared. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Anita Singare added that all staff had been trained and vaccines distributed to booths.

On Sunday, the district plans to vaccinate 346,177 children aged 0-5 years. A total of 5,076 vaccinators and 254 supervisors will operate across 2,538 booths. Mobile teams will also visit bus stands, railway stations, and markets, followed by door-to-door efforts on June 29-30 to reach any children missed. Dhar has already exceeded 100% coverage in earlier phases of the Pulse Polio Campaign. The district remains committed to maintaining high vaccination rates. Sunday’s drive will mark another step in its ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.
