How a School Programme Is Transforming Kids' Eating Habits for Life

Anne Lönning introduced the course 'Eat Right—Your Game Changer' at Carmen-Sylva School in 2022. The programme helps young people under 14 explore their eating habits. It aims to show that healthy food can be both delicious and fun. Nina Kieß and Paulina Sauerborn from the Institute for Nutrition Communication designed the youth-friendly programme. It began with a theoretical phase, followed by four weeks of practical sessions featuring healthy recipes. Parents received digital updates throughout the hands-on stage.

The course concluded with two in-person sessions. One included a discussion on how social media affects eating habits. At the end, all participants received a certificate for completing the programme.

The students responded with enthusiasm. Their motivation remained high, and the learning outcomes were successful. The programme highlights the importance of good nutrition as a foundation for a healthy lifestyle. It also addresses how poor eating habits formed early can persist into adulthood. The initiative has provided young participants with practical skills and knowledge for better food choices.
