Bangladesh Medical University balances Eid celebrations with uninterrupted healthcare services
Bangladesh Medical University held its Eid Reunion 2026 on Tuesday at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall. The event brought together university leaders, staff, students, and healthcare workers in separate sessions. Despite the celebrations, essential medical services continued without interruption during the Eid holidays. The university ensured full healthcare operations remained active over the holiday period. Around 500 medical personnel worked in outpatient departments, treating 944 patients on March 19 and March 22. Diagnostic services, including lab tests, X-rays, and CT scans, stayed open as usual.
An Eid congregation took place on March 21 at the university's central mosque. Special meals were also prepared for patients on Eid day. Meanwhile, the same number of healthcare staff maintained 24-hour care in wards and emergency units.
Acting vice-chancellor Professor Md Abul Kalam Azad attended the reunion alongside pro-vice-chancellors, the treasurer, registrar, proctor, and other senior officials. The event provided a chance for university authorities to engage directly with teachers, healthcare professionals, students, and employees. The university balanced festive gatherings with uninterrupted medical care throughout Eid-ul-Fitr. Both outpatient and emergency services operated smoothly, supported by dedicated staff. The reunion also strengthened connections between leadership, employees, and students during the holiday.
