Banner Health upgrades to Intuitive's da Vinci 5 for precision robotic surgery
Banner Health is upgrading its surgical robotics systems to Intuitive's latest Kaiser da Vinci 5 technology. The move aims to improve precision, safety, and efficiency for patients across its hospitals. The new system will first benefit those in Northern Colorado, including Fort Collins, Loveland, and Greeley.
The da Vinci 5 offers sharper image resolution and finer instrument control than earlier versions. Surgeons' hand movements are translated into smaller, more precise actions inside the body. This upgrade can make certain procedures up to 20 percent more efficient.
The system also includes advanced performance analytics and telepresence features. These allow real-time collaboration between medical teams and help standardise care practices. Banner Health, which operates 32 hospitals nationwide, is rolling out the technology as part of its nonprofit commitment to reinvest in patient care.
Banner Health serves communities across Arizona, Colorado, and Wyoming, managing 346 locations in total. While the exact number of Colorado hospitals isn't specified, the upgrade will initially focus on Northern Colorado facilities.
The da Vinci 5 system is designed to enhance surgical safety, consistency, and outcomes. Patients at Banner Health hospitals in the region will soon have access to the improved technology. More details about robotic surgery and the provider's services are available on the Banner Health website.
