Doctor Attacks Mother's Caregiver - Fine Imposed - Berlin doctor fined €2,250 for violent assault on nursing home caregiver

A 55-year-old doctor has been fined €2,250 for assaulting a caregiver in a Berlin nursing home. The attack took place in September 2024 at a shared residential facility in Schöneberg. The Tiergarten District Court ruled the doctor guilty of dangerous bodily harm.

The incident began when the doctor struck the caregiver with the footrest of a toilet chair. The victim suffered a laceration to the back of his head. Following the assault, the doctor was immediately banned from the nursing home.

During the trial, the defendant admitted to the attack and expressed remorse. The court took into account his lack of prior convictions and emotional state at the time. Despite the ruling, the decision is not yet final, leaving room for potential appeals.

The doctor received a fine rather than a custodial sentence. The victim's injuries were confirmed as a result of the assault. The case now awaits confirmation of the final judgment.
