Biysk's People Like People Festival Unites Autism Community Through Art and Learning
On March 25 and 27, 2026, the Biysk Boarding School No. 2 (a state educational institution under the Altai Territory government) will host People Like People, a major inclusive festival bringing together children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their parents, and specialists for experience sharing, creative expression, and mutual support.
The organizers have prepared a rich program designed to engage all participants. The festival will serve as a unique platform where everyone can find an activity to their liking and feel part of a large, welcoming community.
March 25: A Day of Creativity for Children with ASD (Ages 7–18)
Starting at 10:00 AM, young guests will embark on an exciting journey through a series of workshops: - "Flower of Seven Colors" – exploring the art of paper sculpting - "Feathered Fantasies" Eco-Workshop – crafting with natural materials - "Animation Studio" – mastering sand art techniques
Special highlights include an "Immersive Warm-Up" and "Neurotraining" with interactive games. Additional activities will feature: - "Painting the Celebration in Color" – creating Ebru (marbling) art - A music workshop with simple instruments - A photo reportage by the school's media team, "The World Through the Lens," capturing the festival's brightest moments
Support and Learning for Parents
While children engage in creative workshops, parents will have their own dedicated program. A special educator and psychologist will lead a sensory integration master class, demonstrating how simple exercises and games can improve a child's behavior and coordination at home. The "Fun Games, Handmade" workshop will teach adults how to organize meaningful and engaging family activities.
March 27: Professional Development for Specialists
At 10:00 AM, the "Special Approach" workshop will bring together teachers, psychologists, and tutors for a practical seminar. Participants will discuss best practices in educating children with ASD, innovative teaching methods, and effective parent-teacher collaboration. Experts from public schools, the Altai Territory's Comprehensive Social Services Center, and private educational institutions will share their insights.
Festival Highlight: The "Light It Up Blue" Flash Mob
The festival will culminate in a social flash mob—"Light It Up Blue"—featuring an art installation, "Blue Sky for All," and a dance performance with blue balloons**, symbolizing solidarity with people on the autism spectrum.
Galina Yurova, director of Biysk Boarding School No. 2, invites everyone to join the festival and see firsthand that autism is not a limitation but a unique perspective on the world—one filled with creativity and joy.
