BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi hospitalised with respiratory infection, shows improvement
Senior BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has been hospitalised after falling ill with a respiratory infection. Admitted to Square Hospital on Tuesday, he initially suffered from breathing difficulties and a high fever. His condition has since shown slight improvement, with doctors advising complete rest for recovery.
Rizvi was taken to Square Hospital earlier this week when his symptoms worsened. Under the care of Dr Raihan Rabbani, his oxygen levels have stabilised, and his need for supplemental oxygen has reduced. Visitors have been limited to prevent further infection risks.
Despite his illness, Rizvi remained engaged with political matters. On waking Wednesday morning, he enquired about election updates and voter turnout figures. That evening, BNP chairman Tarique Rahman visited the hospital to check on his condition.
Known for his active role in the party, Rizvi had recently participated in the 2024 'Boycott India' campaign alongside other BNP leaders. His family has now requested public prayers for his swift recovery.
Doctors have instructed Rizvi to rest fully over the coming days as his health gradually improves. His reduced oxygen dependency marks a positive turn, though strict medical supervision continues. The BNP leader's recovery will determine his return to political activities in the near future.
