Boy's Minor Scooter Fall Leads to Life-Threatening Brain Injury

A nine-year-old boy in Nakhodka has suffered a severe brain injury after falling from a scooter. Initially, his external wounds seemed minor, but his condition quickly worsened with severe headaches and vomiting. Doctors have since warned parents to take extra precautions when children use scooters, bikes, or similar vehicles.

The accident occurred when the boy lost balance and hit his head. Though he appeared fine at first, symptoms developed hours later after he woke from sleep. A CT scan then revealed a skull fracture and a large brain haemorrhage.

Surgeons performed an emergency craniotomy to remove blood clots. They also cauterised a damaged artery to stop further bleeding. The boy has since stabilised and was discharged for outpatient care. Medical professionals are now urging parents to ensure children wear helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads. They also stress the need for close supervision while riding. No official figures exist for how many Russian children under 18 were hospitalised in 2023 for similar injuries.

The boy's recovery will continue under medical observation. Doctors have highlighted the importance of protective gear and vigilance to prevent serious accidents. His case serves as a reminder of how quickly minor falls can turn life-threatening.
