Bupa's revamped SME health insurance targets sick days with broader care

Bupa has overhauled its health insurance for small and medium-sized businesses. The changes aim to cut employee sick days while offering broader support. New features include preventive care, mental health services, and faster access to treatment. The updated package now covers dental care as standard. It also provides face-to-face GP appointments at Bupa health centres. Customers can move smoothly from consultation to diagnosis and treatment through Connected Care.

Preventive support includes DNA testing and medication reviews. Mental health services have been expanded with Members First and JAAQ at Work. Additional benefits cover physiotherapy, neurodiversity support, and dedicated SME helplines.

Bupa’s Cancer Promise and Mental Health Advantage remain part of the offering. SMEs also receive HR advice through WorkNest. The insurer estimates that reducing absence by just one day per employee could save UK small businesses £2 billion. The revamped insurance gives SMEs more ways to support staff health and productivity. Features like faster treatment and preventive checks aim to lower workplace absences. Businesses can now access a wider range of services under a single plan.
