Chaotic Vancouver rampage leaves senior critically injured and officers hurt

A chaotic scene unfolded in Vancouver’s West End after a driver veered onto a sidewalk, striking multiple objects and people. The incident left a senior on a scooter critically injured and two police officers hurt before the man was finally stopped.

The driver began by swerving onto the pavement, crashing into trees, parked vehicles, and a senior riding a mobility scooter. The elderly person suffered severe injuries and remains in critical condition.

When Vancouver police arrived, the man continued driving erratically. He collided with a police car, causing his own vehicle to flip before officers could detain him. Two officers were injured during the confrontation. Authorities have not confirmed a motive for the rampage. Investigators are examining whether mental health struggles or drug use played a role in the driver’s actions.

The driver now faces potential charges as police piece together the events. The senior remains hospitalised with life-threatening injuries, while the two officers recover from their wounds. The incident has left the West End community shaken.
