Rescue Services Bring Seriously Ill Sailor Ashore - Critically ill sailor evacuated in dramatic nighttime ferry rescue

A critically ill sailor was urgently evacuated from the ferry Skåne early this morning. The ship's captain declared a medical emergency shortly after 1:30 a.m., prompting a swift rescue operation off the coast of Warnemünde.

The ferry was around eight kilometres from Warnemünde when an emergency physician boarded to assess the patient. Two paramedics from Rostock's professional fire brigade also joined the mission.

By nearly 3:00 a.m., a lifeboat crew had taken the sailor into their care. They transferred him directly to a waiting ambulance on shore. The patient was then rushed to hospital for immediate treatment.

The rescue involved coordination between the ferry's crew, emergency medics, and lifeboat teams. The sailor's condition required rapid transport to shore, though further details about his treatment remain undisclosed.
