Danone recalls Aptamil baby milk over bacterial contamination fears
Danone has recalled batches of Aptamil baby milk after routine tests found possible bacterial contamination. The affected products may contain the toxin Cereulid, which can cause nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. Authorities have warned parents to check their supplies immediately.
The issue was first detected during standard checks by the product's importer. Further investigation traced the problem to a contaminated oil ingredient supplied by a company in China. Danone then issued a recall across Switzerland and over 60 other countries in late 2025.
Shoppers are advised to return any affected packages to the store where they were purchased. The recalled batches carry best-before dates of February 13, 2027, March 10, 2027, and April 15, 2027. The product had been widely distributed before the contamination was discovered.
The recall remains in effect while investigations continue. Parents are urged to avoid using the listed batches and seek a refund or replacement. Danone has not yet confirmed whether additional products or dates will be affected.
