Discover Edible Wild Herbs on a Guided Nature Walk This May

A guided wild herb walk will take place on Tuesday, May 5, offering participants a chance to explore local plants. The two-hour tour, led by certified guide Iris Lau, will begin at Otto Stops’ gravel pit parking lot on Waldnieler Straße/Vorster Straße 1. Attendees will learn about the nutritional benefits and unique qualities of wild herbs found in the area. The event starts at the gravel pit car park before moving through nearby natural areas. Lau will highlight herbs like meadow hogweed, St. John’s wort, willowherb, and common daisy. Participants will also discover the best seasons for harvesting these plants.

Along the way, Lau will explain the nutritional value and traditional uses of each herb. The walk is designed to help people recognise edible wild plants and understand their role in local ecosystems. The tour will wrap up at 7:30 PM.

The walk provides an opportunity to learn about wild herbs from an expert. Participants will leave with knowledge of identifying, harvesting, and using local plants. The event is open to anyone interested in nature and foraging.
