Family Sues After 11-Year-Old Dies from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning in Regina Apartment
An 11-year-old boy named Henry Losco has died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a Regina apartment. His parents, Marina Hills and Sergio Losco, are now taking legal action against several companies they hold responsible for the tragedy.
The lawsuit targets the building’s owner, its property manager, the boiler manufacturer, and the construction firm involved in the installation.
Henry Losco’s death occurred after workers ignored a resident’s report of a carbon monoxide alarm going off. Despite the warning, no inspection was carried out to check for the deadly gas.
The property management company, Skyward Living Properties Inc., is accused of removing carbon monoxide detectors from the building. This left residents without any warning system in place. The apartment was later declared uninhabitable following the incident. The lawsuit also names Ariston Canada Inc., the boiler manufacturer, for allegedly failing to meet safety standards. The company is further accused of not providing timely safety notices about potential risks. Anderson Builders Group 1989 Inc., responsible for the boiler installation, faces claims of improper fitting, which may have contributed to the poisoning. Anderson Holdings Inc., the building’s owner, is accused of neglecting its duty of care to Henry’s family. The parents argue that all parties involved failed to take necessary precautions, leading to their son’s death.
The legal case will examine the actions of each company named in the lawsuit. If proven, the failures could result in significant consequences for those found responsible. The family seeks accountability for the loss of their son in what they describe as a preventable tragedy.
