Marburg-Biedenkopf – How can individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and those close to them better navigate daily life? The Marburg-Biedenkopf district's adult education center (Volkshochschule, or VHS) is offering a series of online and in-person workshops in April and June designed to provide practical strategies and foster exchange. The events target both individuals with ADHD and their families, friends, and caregivers. Educator Meret Guizetti will lead the sessions.
ADHD has increasingly become a topic of public discussion, raising awareness but also giving rise to misunderstandings. While restlessness and difficulty focusing are often the most visible traits, living with this neurological condition presents challenges across many aspects of daily life—from self-organization and routine structuring to communication gaps between those with and without ADHD. Struggles in school, university, or professional settings, coupled with societal stigma and a lack of understanding, can intensify the emotional burden for those affected.
The first in-person seminar, "ADHD in Everyday Life" (April), is aimed at people in the immediate environment of individuals with ADHD—such as parents of children with the condition, as well as partners or friends of adults with ADHD. The goal is to equip participants with strategies and methods to ease daily interactions and support those with ADHD.
The first of three online offerings is the "ADHD – An Introduction for Those Affected, Their Families/Support Networks, and Interested Parties" information session. Attendees will receive foundational knowledge about ADHD along with an overview of the upcoming online formats.
The weekend workshop "ADHD for Beginners" focuses on building background knowledge and practical strategies for constructive engagement with ADHD while breaking down barriers. It is designed for family members, parents, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding.
"Living with ADHD" is a weekend workshop tailored to adults who have ADHD and/or are on the autism spectrum. It addresses those for whom everyday organization and concentration are particularly challenging due to symptoms like sensory overload. The seminar aims to help participants develop concrete coping strategies and strengthen their self-confidence.
Meret Guizetti, the workshop leader, brings years of pedagogical experience and hands-on expertise in working with individuals affected by ADHD.
