From Near-Death Birth to Doctor: Kailie McGee's Inspiring Journey

Dr. Kailie McGee has officially begun her medical career after graduating this week. She will start as an internal medicine doctor at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Her journey into medicine began with a dramatic birth that nearly cost her life—and her mother’s.

McGee’s story starts with a high-risk delivery. Born with the umbilical cord wrapped tightly around her neck, she needed urgent medical care. Her mother also suffered hemorrhagic shock during childbirth, making the situation even more critical.

This week, McGee graduated from Texas Christian University’s Burnett School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree and will now practice under her new title, Dr. Kailie McGee. Her first professional role begins on July 1. Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas has hired her as an internal medicine physician, marking the start of her career in healthcare.

McGee’s path from a complicated birth to becoming a doctor took years of hard work. She will now treat patients in the same field that once saved her life. Her first day as an internal medicine specialist is set for July 1.
