Go Asia recalls Mu-Err mushrooms over salmonella contamination risk
Berlin (dpa) – Supermarket chain Go Asia has recalled its Mu-Err mushrooms after salmonella was detected in the products. The affected varieties are "Black Fungus," "White-Black Fungus Slice," and "Mini Black Fungus," according to a report by the food safety portal lebensmittelwarnung.de.
The company confirmed that salmonella was found in a sample. Since the packaging instructions do not clearly state that the product must be thoroughly cooked before consumption, the batch has been deemed a health risk. Customers can return the products to any store for a full refund.
The recall applies to items with a best-before date of November 28, 2027. The mushrooms were sold in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, and Thuringia.
Consuming salmonella-contaminated food can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and mild fever. However, infants, young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems may experience more severe illness.
