Historic Russian spa reopens after seven years of major upgrades

The Talaya Multidisciplinary Balneotherapy and Mud Spa resort has reopened in Russia’s Magadan Region after seven years of major reconstruction. Originally launched as Goryachiye Klyuchi on 17 October 1940, the resort now welcomes guests with a range of modern facilities and expanded services. The renovation involved building new residential blocks and upgrading infrastructure. The site now includes two mineral hydrotherapy pools, a 25-metre swimming pool, and a salt therapy room. Saunas, solariums, and massage parlours have also been added to the complex.

A new medical and wellness centre features an advanced ultrasound room and a rehabilitation gym. The grounds now boast a restaurant, an open-air concert stage, and an indoor skating rink. Scenic walking paths and changing rooms near the thermal pool enhance the visitor experience.

The resort’s cultural centre contains a 50-seat conference hall and a disco hall that can be used as a cinema. Current capacity stands at 364 guests, with an 85-bed wing dedicated to children. Aleksandr Basansky, the project lead, stated that all work was carried out with care for people and their well-being. The resort remains famous for its silica-rich thermal waters, medicinal mud, and unique climate. Its reopening marks the return of a historic site with significantly improved amenities. Guests can now enjoy a wider range of therapeutic and recreational options.
