How a Rural Thuringia Hub Transforms Family Life with Community Support

A Parent-Child Center in rural Thuringia is making life easier for young families. ThEKiZ Dermbach offers early support, networking, and activities designed to foster positive childhood development. The centre has become a vital hub for parents and children in the Wartburgkreis region.

The centre runs a popular open playgroup for babies and toddlers from four months old. Since September 2025, midwives from the Rhön Birth Center have provided professional support during these sessions. Families also benefit from free or low-cost first-aid courses for children, which are always in high demand.

ThEKiZ works closely with the AWO Counseling Center in Bad Salzungen to organise themed parent evenings. In early 2026, the centre launched its first Strong Parents, Strong Children course, helping parents manage daily challenges with greater confidence. Creative intergenerational events ensure everyone in the community can take part.

With few local services available, ThEKiZ fills an important gap. The centre operates as an open, welcoming space where families can connect. As of February 2026, a second location opened at Nordstraße 10, 99819 Bad Liebenstein, expanding access to support across the Wartburgkreis.

ThEKiZ Dermbach continues to grow, offering practical help and a sense of community. Free or affordable services, professional guidance, and inclusive events ensure families feel supported. The centre's approach strengthens bonds between parents, children, and neighbours in rural Thuringia.
