Isle of Man Boosts Psychological Support for Cancer Patients and Families

Cancer patients and their families in the Isle of Man now have improved access to psychological support. A £55,000 donation from the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association has expanded services at the Mannin Cancer Help Centre. The funding will provide tailored therapy through Minds Matter, a local mental health charity.

The enhanced service is available to anyone affected by cancer, regardless of their stage in diagnosis or treatment. Patients and family members can receive assessments and access to qualified therapists. A consultant clinical psychologist oversees the programme to ensure specialist care.

The initiative is part-funded by the Mannin Cancer Support Group. The recent boost comes from the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association's Ena Quirk Legacy fund. Malcolm Clague, the association's chairman, confirmed the donation and highlighted its role in strengthening local psycho-oncology provision.

Minds Matter delivers the service from the Mannin Cancer Help Centre. While exact details on staff numbers or specific therapies remain undisclosed, the focus is on personalised support for emotional and psychological challenges.

The additional funding will help sustain and expand psychological care for cancer patients and their loved ones. The service aims to provide ongoing support throughout treatment and beyond.
