Legend Biotech's in vivo CAR-T therapy shows 100% response in early trials
Legend Biotech has revealed early clinical results for LB2501, its experimental in vivo CAR-T cell therapy. The treatment targets both CD19 and CD20 proteins in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Initial data suggests strong effectiveness and a favourable safety profile. LB2501 is designed as a first-in-class therapy that produces CAR-T cells inside the patient’s body after a single infusion. Unlike traditional CAR-T treatments, it does not require lymphodepletion before administration.
In a Phase 1 study, the therapy demonstrated a 100% objective response rate at the higher dose level. Eighty-three per cent of these patients achieved a complete response, with all responses still ongoing at the time of analysis. No serious side effects, dose-limiting toxicities, neurotoxicity, or deaths were reported.
The study continues to evaluate LB2501 in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies. Legend Biotech, a leader in cell therapy innovation, aims to expand its pipeline beyond its current lead product, CARVYKTI. The early results mark a significant step for in vivo CAR-T therapies. LB2501’s ability to generate CAR-T cells without lymphodepletion could simplify treatment for B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The company plans to advance the study and explore further applications of the technology.
