Ski champion Lindsey Vonn has shared an update on her recovery after a devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The accident left her with severe leg injuries, requiring emergency surgery and months of rehabilitation. Now, she is slowly rebuilding strength while relying on an electric scooter to move around.

The crash happened on February 8 during the Olympic downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Vonn fractured her left tibia in multiple places and broke her right ankle. Doctors performed emergency surgery to save her left leg from amputation, with further procedures planned shortly after.

The injuries came during one of the toughest periods of her life. Just a day later, her dog Leo died from lung cancer and heart failure. She later described those days as the hardest she had ever faced.

Now, Vonn is gradually returning to light strength training. Her left knee and leg remain in a brace, as does her right ankle. In a recent Instagram video, she showed off her new electric scooter, joking, 'Got myself some new wheels. I won't be getting any faster for now, but it's better than the wheelchair.'

Vonn's recovery continues after the life-changing crash, with no updates yet on a return to competitive skiing. For now, she focuses on rehabilitation, using mobility aids while adjusting to daily life. The road ahead remains uncertain, but her progress marks a step forward from the worst of her injuries.
