467 Applications for Compensation Following Christmas Market Attack - Magdeburg Christmas attack survivors still receive vital support two years later

Survivors of the 2024 Magdeburg Christmas market attack continue to receive support two years later. The State Office of Administration has processed hundreds of compensation claims while providing ongoing medical and psychological care. Many of those affected still require assistance for injuries and trauma sustained in the incident.

Following the attack, which resulted in six deaths, 467 applications for compensation were submitted. So far, 64 recipients receive a monthly payment of €434, while one individual receives €868. Another 62 claims are currently under review.

Immediately after the event, 172 people accessed trauma care at specialised outpatient clinics. Since then, the state has funded 781 medical services, covering diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation. Funeral costs and benefits for surviving dependents have also been provided.

The State Office of Administration remains responsible for coordinating long-term support. This includes psychotherapy, social compensation, and tailored assistance for victims, relatives, and bereaved families. Counselling remains available, with appointments bookable through the state's online portal.

Support for those affected by the attack is still active in 2026. Medical, psychological, and financial aid continues for survivors and families. The state ensures ongoing access to necessary services through its administration office.
