Mass health screenings in Primorsky Krai reveal alarming hidden illnesses

Over 286,000 people in Primorsky Krai completed preventive medical checks in the first four months of this year. The screenings included both routine assessments and full health examinations. Many residents required follow-up action after the initial results. A total of 286,106 residents took part in the health programme. Of these, 49,769 had routine preventive screenings, while 236,337 underwent full medical examinations.

One in three examined residents needed a second-stage assessment. In total, 84,901 people were referred for further testing after the first checks. Authorities reported that nearly 85,000 referrals stemmed from abnormalities or diseases detected during the screenings.

The examinations uncovered various health issues. Doctors identified 4,891 circulatory system disorders, 476 respiratory diseases, and 575 cases of diabetes. Additionally, 54 previously undiagnosed malignant tumours were found. Screenings also revealed reproductive health risks in 7,885 men and 9,695 women. The early detection programme has highlighted significant health concerns among the population. Thousands of residents now face further investigations or treatment. The findings underscore the importance of regular health monitoring in the region.
