Motorcyclist speeds through town at nearly 120 km/h - Motorcyclist fined €1,500 after speeding at 118 km/h in 50 zone

A 21-year-old motorcyclist has been fined and banned from driving after being caught speeding at 118 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Hanau. Police also discovered multiple violations on his bike, leading to its immediate impoundment and further penalties for the rider.

The incident began when officers noticed the motorcyclist revving his engine loudly twice in quick succession. Upon stopping him, they found the motorcycle's exhaust silencer missing, which made the noise even more noticeable. The rider later admitted he was trying to 'break in the engine' after winter storage.

The speed check revealed he was travelling at 118 km/h in a 50 km/h area. Further inspection showed the bike's mandatory roadworthiness certificate (MOT) had expired six months earlier. Authorities took the motorcycle off the road and issued penalties on the spot. The motorcyclist now faces a €1,500 fine, two penalty points on his licence, and a three-month driving ban. No similar cases of dangerous motorcycling with matching violations have been reported in Hanau or the wider Hesse region over the past year.

The rider's actions resulted in severe consequences, including a hefty fine and a temporary loss of driving privileges. The impounded motorcycle will remain off the road until all legal and technical requirements are met.
