MTN Group has launched its 19th annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care, running from 1 to 21 June 2026. This year’s campaign focuses on expanding fair healthcare access across Africa under the theme Expand Equitable Health for Every Community. Employees and partners will lead initiatives to tackle long-standing gaps in the continent’s health systems.
Africa bears 25% of the world’s disease burden yet holds only 3% of its health workforce. The programme aims to strengthen resilience through digital tools, community outreach, and improved service delivery.
The 2026 edition will see MTN staff and collaborators roll out mobile clinics, telemedicine services, and digital health education. Screening, prevention drives, and data-driven healthcare improvements are also planned. These efforts build on six years of impact, during which Y’ello Care reached over 107,000 people and logged more than 56,000 volunteer hours.
Digital solutions, including AI and data analytics, play a key role in the campaign. Such technologies can enhance disease tracking, response times, and overall system efficiency—potentially saving up to $360 billion globally. The need for stronger preparedness is clear, especially with recent outbreaks like the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. This strain currently lacks a licensed vaccine or treatment, underscoring the importance of community trust and rapid intervention. Beyond healthcare, MTN’s wider work in Africa includes expanding digital and financial access, funding infrastructure, and fostering innovation. Since its start, Y’ello Care has supported education, youth development, and economic empowerment alongside health projects.
The 2026 Y’ello Care campaign will run until 21 June, with thousands of MTN employees driving community-based health projects. Activities will focus on closing access gaps through technology, partnerships, and on-the-ground action. The initiative forms part of MTN’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare resilience and digital inclusion across the continent.
