Mystery surrounds man's death by hanging in Dombivli home after days undetected

A 31-year-old man, Lokesh Suryakant Nikam, was found dead in his home in Dombivli West. His body was discovered nearly four days after he allegedly died by hanging. Neighbours had raised the alarm after noticing a foul smell coming from the house. Lokesh Nikam lived alone and worked at a printing press. His parents grew concerned when he stopped answering phone calls. Eventually, neighbours contacted the police due to the strong odour emanating from his residence.

When officers arrived, they broke open the door and found Nikam’s body hanging inside. A post-mortem examination is now underway to determine the exact cause of death. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his suicide. Meanwhile, Nikam’s close friend, Rishikesh, died in custody after complaining of chest pain. Relatives have claimed that he did not receive timely medical attention. Authorities have not yet commented on the allegations.

The investigation into Lokesh Nikam’s death continues as police examine the events leading up to his suicide. The post-mortem report will provide further clarity on the timeline and cause. Separately, questions remain about the treatment of his friend, Rishikesh, while in custody.
