New Cross-Regional Service Bridges Gaps in Family Healthcare Support
A new cross-regional support service has launched in Arnsberg and neighbouring areas. The Practice Navigation Service aims to help healthcare providers spot psychosocial challenges early and link families with local support. The initiative has already drawn strong interest from medical practices across the region. The program was developed through teamwork between municipal prevention networks, early intervention specialists, and local doctors. It also received expert guidance from the SeeYou Foundation (Baby Guide Germany) and built on ideas from the BEAGLE navigation project at Alexianer Klinikum Hochsauerland. Funding comes from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of its kinderstark – NRW Creates Opportunities initiative.
Unlike many services, this one crosses administrative borders, bringing together Arnsberg, Sundern, Soest, Warstein, Hochsauerland District, and Märkischer Kreis. The goal is to remove bureaucratic hurdles and create direct links between medical practices, local authorities, and social services. Families can access voluntary support early, without unnecessary delays. The first training session for participating practices attracted high attendance. Organisers have made it clear that more practices are welcome to join the scheme as it expands.
The Practice Navigation Service is now operational, offering early, tailored help to families facing psychosocial challenges. By breaking down regional barriers and simplifying access, the program ensures faster connections between healthcare providers and support networks. Further growth is expected as additional practices sign up for training.
