New Vehicle Elevates 'Wishes in Motion' for Palliative Care Journeys

The 'Wishes in Motion' initiative has reached a new milestone with the arrival of a specially designed vehicle. Run by the Gifhorn branch of the German Red Cross, the project has been fulfilling deeply personal last wishes for people in palliative care since 2017. The new transport solution aims to make these journeys even more comfortable and meaningful. Since its launch, the initiative has completed 35 trips, each carrying a unique personal story. Wishes range from visiting the Steinhude Sea to attending a football match or simply spending time with family. The project relies entirely on donations and the dedication of a 13-strong volunteer team.

The new vehicle marks a significant upgrade for the initiative. It meets all medical standards under DIN EN 1789 regulations for patient transport. Unlike traditional ambulances, it features side windows and a more inviting design to improve passenger comfort. Inside, there is space for a personal wheelchair and an in-cabin sound system, allowing for a more personalised experience. This addition helps the volunteer team stay truer to their mission. The vehicle’s design and features ensure that each journey remains as dignified and comfortable as possible for those in palliative care.

The new vehicle strengthens the project’s ability to fulfil last wishes across Germany. With continued financial support, 'Wishes in Motion' will keep offering these deeply personal experiences. The initiative remains committed to making each journey as special as the people it serves.
