Nizhny Novgorod sanatorium pioneers Russia's labor productivity reform in healthcare

Gorodetsky Sanatorium has become the first healthcare facility in the Nizhny Novgorod region to join Russia’s federal Labor Productivity project. The initiative, part of the national Effective and Competitive Economy programme, will introduce lean manufacturing tools to improve efficiency and working conditions over the next six months. The sanatorium, which specialises in treating musculoskeletal disorders, neurological conditions, and occupational diseases, signed on as the 319th participant in the region. Experts from the Regional Competence Center (RCC) will lead the project, starting with a pilot workflow audit to identify inefficiencies. After assessing current operations, they will propose tailored solutions to streamline processes.

Staff at the facility will also undergo training in lean manufacturing principles. The goal is to optimise daily tasks, reduce waste, and enhance productivity without compromising patient care. The project aligns with one of nine national development targets set under President Vladimir Putin’s broader economic initiative. Organisations interested in participating can submit applications through the official IT platform at [produktivnost.rf](https://производительность.рф). The federal programme remains open to businesses and public sector entities seeking similar improvements.

Over the next six months, RCC specialists will work closely with Gorodetsky Sanatorium to implement changes. The project aims to create a more efficient workflow while maintaining high standards of treatment. If successful, the model could be expanded to other healthcare providers in the region.
