Pampanga honors surgeons at 52nd Philippine College of Surgeons Convention
Pampanga Governor Lilia 'Nanay' Pineda honoured surgeons and healthcare workers during the 52nd Philippine College of Surgeons Midyear Convention. The event took place at the SMX Convention Center in Clark Freeport. Among the attendees were former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Board Member Kaye Naguit, and medical professionals from across the region.
The convention focused on the theme *Precision Care in Surgery by Cultivating Leadership and Competence*.
Governor Pineda began by thanking healthcare workers for their dedication in providing quality medical care. She acknowledged their sacrifices, particularly in improving public health services across Pampanga.
During her speech, Pineda explained that precision care goes beyond treatment. It includes preventing suffering, protecting patients’ dignity, and offering hope through compassionate service. She also highlighted the province’s preventive healthcare efforts, such as the *Alagang Nanay Preventive Health Care Program*. The governor then announced a key development: the establishment of the *Pampanga Provincial Hospital-Clark*. This facility, the first government hospital inside a freeport, aims to expand healthcare access for residents and workers in the area. The event brought together medical leaders, including former President Arroyo, who now serves as Pampanga’s 2nd District congresswoman. Board Member Naguit and other practitioners joined in recognising the contributions of surgeons to the province’s health system.
The convention underscored the role of skilled surgeons and healthcare teams in advancing medical services. With the new hospital in Clark and ongoing preventive programs, Pampanga continues to strengthen its public health infrastructure. The governor’s remarks reinforced the province’s commitment to accessible, compassionate, and high-quality care.
