Pampanga Unveils Cutting-Edge Infectious Disease Center to Strengthen Regional Health

A new infectious disease centre has opened in Pampanga, boosting healthcare in Central Luzon. The facility includes specialised wards, labs, and emergency care units designed for outbreak response. Provincial leaders attended the launch to mark the expansion of medical services in the region. The newly inaugurated Center for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine features dedicated isolation wards, containment units, and advanced clinical care. It houses triage emergency beds, paediatric ICU beds, adult ICU beds, and isolation hemodialysis stations. There are also operating and delivery rooms, alongside isolation ward beds for high-risk patients.

Alongside the treatment centre, the **Central Luzon Infectious Disease Referral Laboratory** is now operational. The lab can test for respiratory infections, vaccine-preventable diseases, dengue, leptospirosis, mpox, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and drug-resistant TB. Pampanga Governor Lilia 'Nanay' Pineda and other provincial officials were present at the opening. Their involvement highlighted the project’s importance in strengthening regional health infrastructure.

The new facilities will improve disease detection and patient care in Central Luzon. With expanded testing and specialised treatment units, the centre is prepared to handle infectious outbreaks. Officials have emphasised its role in safeguarding public health across the province.
