"I could have died": patient suspects medical error after implantation, clinic denies everything

Patient's Dental Nightmare Sparks Investigation at Tallinn Clinic

Olga Novikova has raised concerns about severe complications following dental treatment at ABCdent clinic in Tallinn. She underwent multiple procedures, including a sinus lift, tooth and cyst removal, and implant and crown installation between 2022 and 2023. Her case has since drawn attention from health authorities. In 2022 and 2023, Olga received extensive dental work at ABCdent. A year later, she developed throbbing pain, inflammation, and fever. An X-ray revealed fluid in her maxillary sinus, leading to constant pain, purulent inflammation, and a foreign body in the sinus.

She was referred to the University of Tartu Clinic for urgent surgery to resolve the issue. Olga also claims that ABCdent failed to record her treatment details in Estonia’s digilugu system until March 2026. The Department of Health received her appeal regarding the clinic on May 12, 2026.

ABCdent has disputed her account, stating that some of her claims are incorrect or false. The Department of Health noted that no other recent complaints have been filed against the clinic. Legal experts have highlighted the importance of proper medical documentation, clear patient information, and expert assessments in such disputes. The Department of Health is now reviewing the case. Olga’s allegations centre on delayed documentation and severe post-treatment complications. The clinic maintains that her version of events is not entirely accurate.
