Phil Collins Inducted Into Rock Hall but Skips Ceremony Due to Health
Phil Collins has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026. The legendary musician, however, will not attend the ceremony on November 14, 2023, due to ongoing health struggles that have plagued him for years. Collins’ health problems began in 2007 after a spinal injury left him with severe nerve damage. Over time, he developed drop foot, a condition that made walking difficult. Five knee surgeries followed, adding to his physical challenges.
His drinking also took a toll, leading to kidney issues and multiple hospital stays. Two years ago, he decided to quit alcohol and has remained sober since. Despite these setbacks, he has recently shown signs of improvement, feeling healthier now than he has in years.
The singer retired from performing years ago because of his chronic ailments. Yet, he has hinted at a possible return to live shows, even as he continues to work on new song ideas. Though invited to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, he declined, citing his current health as the reason. Collins’ induction into the Hall of Fame recognises his decades-long impact on music. While his health has prevented him from attending the event, his recent progress suggests a potential comeback. For now, fans will have to wait to see if he returns to the stage.
