Poshan Pakhwada 2025 to combat malnutrition with nationwide outreach
The Ministry of Women and Child Development will launch the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from 8th to 22nd April 2025. This annual campaign aims to tackle malnutrition and improve the health of women and children across the country. Activities will focus on education, community engagement, and direct outreach at local levels. The two-week event will kick off with a webcast on 8th April, featuring Minister of State Savitri Thakur. She will address officials from 18 partner ministries as well as Anganwadi workers, setting the tone for the campaign’s objectives.
This year’s Poshan Pakhwada centres on four main themes: the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, the use of the Poshan Tracker’s beneficiary module, managing malnutrition through the CMAM approach, and promoting healthy lifestyles. The initiative will also highlight holistic nutrition practices, such as exclusive breastfeeding and proper complementary feeding. Union Minister Annpurna Devi will visit Arunachal Pradesh during the campaign to review ongoing programmes for women and children. Meanwhile, local efforts will include home visits, nutrition camps, and awareness drives at village, block, and district levels. The campaign operates under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, which emphasise immunity-building and overall wellness.
Poshan Pakhwada remains a key part of the broader Poshan Abhiyaan initiative. It targets pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six. The campaign’s structured approach ensures active participation from multiple stakeholders to achieve measurable health improvements.
