Purina Invests Millions in US Vet Schools to Advance Pet Health Research

Purina has donated to five leading veterinary schools in the US to boost research and education in pet health. The funding will establish new professorships, research programmes, and specialised facilities.

This latest round of donations builds on Purina's long-standing support for veterinary training and animal health studies.

The donations will create dedicated roles and spaces at top institutions. Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine will introduce the Purina Professorship in Veterinary Nutrition. Cornell University will launch the Purina Cornell Veterinary Nutrition Program, focusing on dietary research for animals.

At the University of Florida, the funds will establish the **Purina Endowed Professor of Dermatology**, supporting skin disease studies in pets. Meanwhile, the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine will develop the **Purina Canine Cognition and Performance Program**, exploring behaviour and physical health in dogs. Colorado State University will also gain a **Purina Nutrition Suite**, a new facility for nutrition research. Before this announcement, Purina had already supported veterinary education for decades. Since 1991, its **Veterinary Scholars Program** has helped over 1,000 students yearly across 32 US schools. The **Purina Institute's Animal Health Research Grants**, running since 2016, have also provided regular funding for scientific studies.

The new programmes will expand research into pet nutrition, dermatology, and behaviour. Each institution will use the funding to train specialists and improve animal care standards. Purina's contributions continue a long history of backing veterinary science and education.
