Puschendorf unveils new outdoor fitness trail for active seniors

A new outdoor fitness trail for seniors has opened in Puschendorf. Located near Eichwaldhalle, the facility was designed to promote active ageing in the village. The project was launched by the Senior Citizens’ Council in partnership with local authorities. The trail features training stations arranged in a continuous loop, tailored for older adults. Its placement next to the pumptrack was chosen to encourage intergenerational gatherings. The total cost of the project reached approximately €53,000, with €16,746.40 provided by the EU’s LEADER program.

The LEADER program, managed by the Local Action Group 'LEADER Region Landkreis Fürth e.V.', supports rural development through community-led initiatives. After the official opening, attendees tested the equipment and enjoyed a traditional Bavarian Weißwurst breakfast. Mayor Alexander Dörr described the fitness trail as a 'true asset' for Puschendorf. The facility is expected to serve as a social and recreational hub for the village’s older residents. Funding from the LEADER program helped bring the community-driven project to life.
